Fear, panic gripped Ipetumodu community in Osun State on Thursday, 17 July, 2025 following the discovery of the remains of a farmer named Akeem Jimoh, on his farm located on the boundary of his community with a neighbouring town, Asipa.
It was gathered that Akeem had reportedly left his house in Ipetumodu for the farm around 7 am on Thursday, 17 July, 2025.
It was also gathered that before 12noon, news filtered into the community that the farmer had been killed by some yet-to-be identified people while working on the farm.
A relation of the slain farmer, who preferred anonymity for fear of attack, while speaking with an online medium on Friday, 18 July, 2025, said the matter was immediately reported to the office of the Amotekun Corps, adding that the agency quickly formed a search party that went out looking for the farmer.
“Akeem had gone to his farm around 7 am on Thursday. The farm is located at the boundary between Asipa and Ipetumodu.
“But a few hours later, his remains were discovered by the Amotekun Corps. They found his body around 12:30 pm on Thursday.
“The men who found him brought his body to the Ipetumodu Police Division, and the situation became chaotic. There was tension. People of Ipetumodu were displeased by the occurrence, and the security men around pleaded with them and assured them that the perpetrators of the crime would be brought to book,” the relation said.
Meanwhile , the Osun Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the sad development.
According to Ojelabi,from close observation, the “Deceased was stabbed. He was identified as Akeem Jimoh. Those who reported the matter at the Ipetumodu Division said they suspected some people.
“We are not leaving any stone unturned at the command. The matter has just been transferred, and a full investigation has commenced into the incident.
“As of the time the matter was transferred, no arrest has been made, but we are working hard to unravel the mystery behind the death, ” the state police image-maker said.
