FG Announces Death Of Nigeria’s Consul General In Cameroon

The federal government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday,  announced the passage of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, Nigeria’s Consul General in Buea, Republic of Cameroon.

According to the ministry, Coker passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, following a brief illness.

The Foreign Affairs ministry which announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, 20 August, 2025 by its Spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces, with deep sorrow, the sudden demise of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, the Consul General of Nigeria in Buea, Republic of Cameroon, who unfortunately passed on after a brief illness on Saturday, 16th August 2025,”.

The Ministry, while describing Ambassador Coker as a dedicated and hardworking career diplomat who served Nigeria with distinction in various capacities, said postings included Nigeria’s missions in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China, before he was appointed Consul General in Buea.

The statement, which added that “Coker’s untimely demise is considered a significant loss to both the diplomatic community and the nation”, also expressed deep condolences to Coker’s family, colleagues, and friends.
It also prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
