Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar
BY OUR REPORTERS –Despite protests by some lawmakers, the Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar, as the substantive Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
The confirmation was sequel to the presentation and consideration of the report of Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service Matters. The report was presented by the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Mpigi Barinada.
Presenting the report, Barinaga said the committee screened and found the nominees worthy of the appointments.
Another nominee who was also confirmed by the Senate was Dr Oyindasola Oluremi Oni, from North Central as Chairman.
Also confirmed were Clement Akintola (South-West); Ayim Nyerere (South-East) and Charles Emukowhale (South-South), as commissioners of the PenCom board.
Dahir-Umar is from the North-East geopolitical zone, held the position in acting capacity.
