Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant agencies to ensure that all perpetrators involved in the sexual abuse of girls during the Alue-Do festival in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State are held accountable.

In a statement denouncing the shocking viral footage, which showed girls being molested and subjected to degrading and inhumane acts during what was intended to be a cultural celebration, the First Lady emphasized that although she respects the nation’s diverse cultural heritage and traditions, no tradition or custom gives anyone the right to violate the dignity or freedom of any woman or girl.

She also praised the police for the arrests made so far and encouraged the victims to seek necessary medical attention and psychological support, while praying for their recovery, comfort, and resilience in this challenging period.
