Four Arrested as Police Foil Bandit Activities in Kaduna State

BY SUNDAY SAMUEL —The Nigeria Police Force has taken four individuals into custody for their alleged involvement in bandit operations and other violent crimes in Tayu, located in the Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to a statement issued on Monday by DCP Anthony Placid, the arrests were made by operatives from the Force Intelligence Department’s Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).

The statement noted that the police achieved a major breakthrough through the operation, which led to the capture of four suspected criminals and the seizure of weapons and ammunition in Kaduna State.

Those arrested include Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40). They were apprehended on March 7, 2026, following reliable intelligence reports.

Recovered items from the suspects consist of four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and a locally made pistol along with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The statement further explained that initial findings suggest the suspects are connected to banditry and other violent offenses in the area. It also added that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the group who escaped and to retrieve more weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, praised the officers for their skill and dedication, while reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to fight banditry and protect lives and property nationwide.
