Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in a statewide broadcast on Friday called on residents to reflect on the lessons of the six-month emergency rule, stressing that “the costliest peace is cheaper than the cheapest war.”

Fubara recounted the challenges the state faced under the emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025, following a protracted political crisis.

According to him, had cooperated fully with federal authorities and resisted pressures to challenge the constitutionality of the suspension of democratic institutions, prioritising the peace, stability, and progress of Rivers State.

“The last six months have been enormously challenging, but they have taught us valuable lessons about unity, patience, and the importance of dialogue. Nothing has been irretrievably lost; there remains ample opportunity for necessary adjustments, continued reconciliation, and inclusiveness,” Fubara said, just as he also urged political leaders, stakeholders, and citizens to embrace the moment as a fresh beginning, warning against renewed division.

“Let us rise above bitterness and channel our energies into rebuilding trust, fostering inclusiveness, and securing a peaceful and prosperous State for all,” he said.
