Happiness, Joy In Borno Village After ISWAP Releases Eleven Abducted Residents

Happiness, Joy, enveloped Kinnari Village, Damasak, Borno State as residents celebrates the release of 11 people by suspected fighters from the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP).
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, made this disclosure on his X post on Monday, 4 August, 2025.
According to him, , the victims, including a 40-year-old man identified as Tela Bamari, were taken away by armed insurgents on Thursday, 31 July, 2025t around 12:40 a.m.
A source from the village told Makama that they were released at about 10:30 p.m. on August 2, following quiet efforts by local community leaders and humanitarian workers who helped secure their freedom.
“After their release, the victims were taken for medical checks and later reunited with their families. The Borno State Committee for Victims of Terrorism was also present to receive them,” he wrote.
It remains unclear whether any ransom was paid.
According to the security expert, residents of the community expressed gratitude and called for improved security.
