At least seven people have been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board for allegedly engaging in immoral activities at a joint along Zoo Road in Kano metropolis.
The Board’s Deputy Commander-General, Mujahideen Aminudeen, who made this disclosure to newsmen on Wednesday, said the arrests were made on Tuesday night following complaints from residents.
“I am happy to announce that our operatives were lucky to arrest seven pimps in a joint at Zoo Road in Kano, where young women and men gather together and engage in all sorts of immoral acts,” Aminudeen said.
According to him, while some suspects were from Kano, others hailed from Bauchi and Kogi states, adding that “the most disturbing thing is that the oldest among them is 23 years.”
The board’s deputy Commander also revealed that operatives also apprehended a teenage boy and a young girl found in a compromising situation inside a tricycle.
“We also arrested another girl who returned to Kano after she was repatriated to her home town in Sokoto State,” said, just as he added that the total number of suspects arrested now stands at 10, and they will be charged to court after investigations.
He recalled that the Board’s anti-trafficking unit had on Saturday foiled an attempt to traffic two girls to Lagos for onward transportation to Saudi Arabia.
The victims were identified as 16-year-old Zaharau Audu from Zaria, Kaduna State, and 18-year-old Karjahar Salim from Fagge, Kano State.
Aminudeen called on parents to take proper care of their children, saying,“These children are a trust from Allah, and He will ask you about how you safeguarded that trust.”
