ICPC Appoints John Odey As Spokesperson

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced the appointment  of Mr. John Okor Odey, a Deputy Director, as its new Spokesperson.

The Secretary to the Commission, Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu , disclosed this in a statement posted via its official X account that Odey succeeds Mr. Demola Bakare, and will also lead the ICPC’s newly established Media and Public Communications Unit under the Office of the Hon. Chairman.

The Commission anticipates that Mr. Odey’s extensive expertise in communication will strengthen ICPC’s public engagement, enhance media relations, and support ongoing efforts to deepen transparency and public awareness of its anti-corruption mandate.

Odey began his professional journey as an editor and later gained broadcast experience as a scriptwriter and presenter.

Since joining the ICPC, he has served in several strategic capacities across Public Enlightenment, Protocol, and Zonal Operations.

His career spans media and public communication, protocol, strategic messaging, and reputation management.

He holds degree in English/Literature, Masters Degree in Leadership Studies, and MPhil Leadership and Strategic Studies, in addition to a Professional Diploma in Public Relations.

Mr. Odey is also a certified member of key professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
