BY KINGSLEY OBIORA—The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that the former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, is in its custody over alleged corruption.

ICPC Spokesperson John Odey stated that the commission took El-Rufai into custody on Wednesday night, February 18, 2026, for questioning in connection with ongoing investigations.

“ICPC writes to state that Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is in our custody as at close of work on Wednesday, February 18, 2026,” Odey said.

The commission did not provide further details on the specific allegations, but sources indicate that the custody is part of an investigation into alleged financial misconduct during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor.
