The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today announced the winners of its ASEAN Youth Instagram photo contest, which was held to showcase the progress and reforms achieved by ASEAN countries to address inequality and climate change. This is the first of two Instagram contest planned under the Voyage to Indonesia campaign in the run up to the IMF Annual Meetings in Bali, Indonesia on October 10-14, 2018.
Rexor Amancio from the Philippines won the first prize for the Climate Change category for his photo depicting increased investments by the Philippine government on renewable energy to combat climate change. Kevin Marcellino from Indonesia won the first prize for the Inequality category for his photo describing the benefits of “Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP)” a program by the Indonesian government which aims to provide cash assistance for all children aged 6-21 years of age and to provide equality of education in Indonesia.
The photo contest which ran from March 1 to April 7, 2018, received more than 180 entries from ASEAN member countries using the hashtag #IMF_VTI. The photos touched upon the key issues that the Fund focuses on: gender inequality, jobs, climate change and financial inclusion. The winners will receive a 3-day trip to Bali and to attend the IMF Annual Meetings. The winners will be contacted by IMF representatives for instruction on how to claim their prizes.

A second Instagram photo contest is scheduled to be launched on June 18 to August 17, 2018. The contest will be open to ASEAN citizens of all ages focusing on the progress made by their countries in empowering women in the economy and how ASEAN countries are shaping the future of digital economy. Two additional winners will be selected to participate in the 2018 Annual Meetings.
