The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked reports alleging that it has released the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oletola, the Commission described the reports as false and misleading, emphasizing that no timetable or schedule of activities has been issued for the 2027 polls.

According to the statement, INEC operates strictly within the provisions of the law. It noted that Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022 mandates the Commission to publish a Notice of Election not later than 360 days before the date fixed for a general election, stressing that any timetable released outside this legal framework cannot originate from INEC.

The Commission assured Nigerians that the official Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election will be released at the appropriate time, in full compliance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Electoral Act, 2022. It added that the timetable will be communicated through its verified and established channels when due.

INEC therefore urged the public and the media to disregard the fake reports and rely solely on information disseminated through the Commission’s official platforms for accurate and authoritative updates.
