BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR— Operators in the Nigerian insurance industry at the weekend celebrated the Commissioner for insurance, National Insurance Commission, Mr Olusegun Omosehin, and outgoing Director-General of the Nigerian Insurers Association, ( NIA), Mrs Yetunde Ilori.
The event which was organized by the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) tagged, ‘Celebration of double-edge excellence’, was held at the weekend in Lagos.
Omosehin, before his appointment as Commissioner for insurance in April was the Chairman of NIA while Ilori will become the next President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria this month.
The Chairman, NIA, Mr. Kunle Ahmed, said, “Omosehin and Ilori have been a beacon of inspiration, guiding us through challenges and triumphs with unwavering dedication and visionary leadership. Under their stewardship, our Association has reached new heights, achieved significant milestones, and set a solid foundation for future success.
“As we reflect on the years of their tenure, we are reminded of the countless contributions and the profound impact they had on each one of us and the Association as a whole. Their commitment to excellence, innovation, and fostering a collaborative culture has truly transformed the Association.”
Also, Tope Smart, Chairman NEM Insurance said Omoshein, ” is a man of integrity who is very passionate about the industry. He actually excelled everywhere he worked. He is a man who dedicated virtually everything to his work, he has the drive and energy.”
He highlighted Ilori’s excellent contributions while as DG of NIA.
In his responds, the commissioner for insurance, Segun Omosehin, thanked the operators for putting together the send- forth party.
He however urged them to deliberate in taking this industry forward.
According to him the story of the insurance industry has not yet been told, the decision to change our story must be deliberate. Please, make the insurance industry your priority when taking decisions.
While Ilori noted that the industry brought the best out of her. “ Thank you all for supporting me.”
