A Lebanese, Wael Jerro, who advertised a Nigerian girl, Peace Busari, for sale has been arrested.
The news was broken on Thursday by the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on her Twitter handle.
Dabiri-Erewa tweeted: “Breaking news on Trafficked Nigerian girl for sale on Facebook by a Lebanese!
“The Lebanese Government just announced the arrest of Mr. WAEL JERRO for onward prosecution against criminal sales of a human, a young Nigerian girl.”
Jerro had advertised Busari with her Nigerian passport for sale with a price tag of $1,000.
The advertisement was put on a Facebook page: “Buy and Sell in Lebanon.”
Peace, 30, is from Ibadan in Oyo State.
The NIDCOM had on Wednesday said a manhunt was on for Jerro as he had been reported to the country’s Ministry of Labour.
Lebanon had through the Ministry of Labour condemned Jerro’s action, NIDCOM had said in an update on the issue on Wednesday.
