JUST IN: Wike Praises Tinubu For Lifting Rivers Emergency Rule

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency imposed on Rivers State, describing the move as a restoration of democratic governance.

Wikem who made the commendation through a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the President’s action demonstrated his commitment to peace and the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.
According to the minister, Tinubu’s timely intervention not only saved Rivers State from prolonged political instability but also restored the confidence of its people in his leadership.
Wike commended Rivers residents for their continuous support for the President, urging them to remain steadfast as the federal government works to return the country to the path of progress and development.
He also called on stakeholders in Rivers State to work together in harmony for the collective good of the people.
Warning against those he described as “fifth columnists” who seek to profit from crisis, Wike said, “From Rivers State going forward, the only news that will emanate will be that of peace, progress and development.”
