BY NKECHI NAEXHE-ESEZOBOR—The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has released an update on the ongoing rescue and recovery operations following a multi-vehicle crash on Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday, July 24, 2026.

According to the agency report body of the trapped victim has now been successfully recovered and evacuated to Idera Hospital Mortuary. The two injured victims have also been rescued and taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre for medical treatment.

It noted that recovery management is progressing steadily, with four of the crashed vehicles already removed from the scene while assuring that recovery efforts are currently focused on evacuating the trapped Toyota Sienna and the remaining articulated truck.

The operation requires the offloading of the cargo before heavy-duty recovery equipment can safely remove both vehicles from the crash scene.

Personnel of the FRSC, in collaboration with other emergency response agencies, remain on ground managing the crash scene, facilitating recovery operations, and ensuring traffic is effectively controlled to prevent secondary crashes and guarantee the safe movement of motorists.

The Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander KEHINDE Hamzat appreciates the patience and cooperation of road users and urges motorists approaching the Kara Bridge corridor both inward and outward to always apply caution, obey traffic officials, and consider alternative routes where necessary until the recovery exercise is fully concluded.

FRSC remains committed to safeguarding lives, restoring normal traffic flow, and ensuring safer roads for all.
