Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, on Sunday showered praises on security agencies for the successful rescue of the kidnapped Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Muhammad Bagudo.

Recall that Bagudo, who represents Bagudo West Constituency and serves as Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, was abducted last week Friday shortly after the Isha’i prayer in his hometown, Bagudo.
He was held by his abductors for nearly eight days before being rescued on saturday following an intensified joint security operation involving the military, police, and local vigilantes.

Idiris, who gave the commendation through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, on Sunday, described the operation as a demonstration of the military’s and other security operatives’ commitment and professionalism, as they were deployed across the state.

“I wish to sincerely commend the security agencies for their gallant efforts to rescue the Deputy Speaker.

“This shows the unwavering commitment of the security agencies deployed to serve the state,” the governor said, just as he also urged the various security formations to sustain the tempo until all persons still in captivity are rescued and reunited with their families.

The Governor also appealed to residents to continue supporting the security agencies by sharing timely information, which would enable them to achieve lasting peace across the state.
Idris in the statement also commended the synergy among security agencies operating in the state, noting that their coordinated approach has greatly helped in tackling criminal elements in recent months.
