Kebbi Govt Approves N154m To Boost Electricity

The Kebbi State, the State’s Government on Monday said it  has approved total of N154 million to Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), aimed at improving electricity in the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Alhaji Abubakar Dakingari, disclosed this in a statement in Birnin Kebbi, said the governor made the approval to enable KEDCO acquire more power from Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

“Gov. Atiku Bagudu has magnanimously approved the release of N154 million to KEDCO to boost its revenue base of acquiring power from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

“The Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa made the statement on behalf of the state government as part of its effort to restoring regular electricity supply to people of the state.’’

The statement added that the incumbent administration of Bagudu had acknowledged the importance of electricity supply as the pillar of economic development and would continue to accord priority to the sector.

The commissioner assured  that the state government would sustain providing financial backup to aid the revenue collection capacity of KEDCO to enable it discharge its duty of power distribution efficiently and effectively.
