Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), has said that 245 retirees have been credited with a sum of N1,007,651,255.34 (One Billion, Seven Million, Six hundred and Fifty-One Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty-Five Naira, Thirty-Four Kobo) for the month of August
The Director General Mr. Babalola Obilana disclosed this at the 88th Bond Presentation Ceremony held at the NECA House Auditorium, Alausa,
He also dissociated the Agency from the activities of a fraudulent individual claiming to have affiliations with the Commission.

He warned Lagos State pensioners to be wary of a certain individual whom he referred to as an impostor, claiming to act on behalf of LASPEC and the State Government.
In his words, “We want to urge the retirees to stay away from any individual or association demanding for money in exchange for fast tracking payment of pension benefits. He said, “At LASPEC, we do not have any such intermediaries. You must be wary of such fraudsters. Please, always contact us directly for all enquiries”. Obilana disclosed that the said individual has since been reported to the police. “LASPEC has put in place strict business processes for the seamless payment of entitlements; you do not need a middleman to access your fund”, he stated.
He appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering support and prompt allocation of funds to facilitate the welfare of pensioners in the State. He said, “The present administration is extremely passionate about the welfare of retirees and this is evident in the provision of funds for the prompt payment of pension entitlements”.
Obilana urged the retirees to register with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRAA), stressing that it offers them access to lots of goodies from the Government. He entreated the retirees saying, “As elder statesmen, we have brought LASRAA to you, please make good use of this opportunity to register so you can reap the benefits it brings”.
A retiree, Oba Wahab Ogunbiyi expressed appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his kind gestures towards retirees. He also praised the staff and management of LASPEC for ensuring due diligence in carrying out their duties while maintaining an open door policy to retirees. He advised retirees to always heed to the advice of LASPEC, saying that the Agency remains the only valid source of information on pension matters.
A beneficiary, Joy Rachel thanked LASPEC for their professionalism. She expressed gratitude to the government for a seamless pension process. “This goes a long way to show that Lagos is working”, she added.
