The Labour Party (LP) has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Prof. Joash Amupitan, for its adherence to the rule of law.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Ken Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser on Media to LP Interim National Chairman, Senator Esther Usman, said the commendation followed INEC’s recognition of Usman as Interim National Chairman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as National Secretary.
INEC also invited the recognised party leadership to its quarterly consultative meeting with political party leaders, in compliance with a Federal High Court judgment delivered on January 21.
Asogwa said the move affirmed the legitimacy of the party’s leadership and ended its prolonged internal crisis, reaffirming the party’s commitment to democratic values and internal unity.
