Maryland Inward Ojota Accident Claims 5 Lives

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that five persons were brought out dead following an accident that took place at Maryland inward Ojota.

A statement by the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, said the accident happened late Thursday, and involves an articulated truck with registration number YYB-112XA, a Lagos colored commercial bus (danfo) with registration number KRD-672XE and a tipper laden with granite, which registration number was still unknown as at the time of filing this report.

She noted that distress call received at 2320hrs reported a crash at Maryland inward Ojota end of Ikorodu road.

Upon arrival at the incident scene, an articulated truck with registration number YYB-112XA, a Lagos colored commercial bus (danfo) with registration number KRD-672XE and a tipper laden with granite with registration number unknown were involved in a multiple crash.
Further investigation revealed that the trailer enroute Anthony lost control and ran across the kerb onto the oncoming tipper and commercial bus loaded with passengers.
A total of Fifteen (15) people (12 males, 3 females) were involved in the crash while 5 adults (4 males and 1 female) lost their lives as a result of fatal head injuries while others were rushed to nearby hospital by first responders.
The dead bodies have been handed over to SEHMU at the scene and the crashed vehicles recovered off the road.
The combined efforts of LASEMA Officials alongside FRSC, Nigeria Police and LASAMBUS were on ground for the recovery.
The Sector Commander FRSC Lagos Sector Command Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide has again reiterated that the Command will continue to do the needful with strict enforcement and advocacy.
The Sector Commander commiserate with the families of the Deceased and wish the injured quick recovery.
