BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–Poised to drive the implementation of micro pension, the National Pension Commission (PenCom) said in the third quarter of 2021 it engaged the leadership of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) and Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) to secure the
buy-in of their members in the Micro Pension Plan.
This is contained in its third quarter report released last month that the meeting discussed possible collaboration with the two Faith-Based organizations in driving the
implementation of the MPP for the Catholic and Muslim faithfuls.
It added that a joint committee on the implementation of the Micro Pension Plan was
constituted with members drawn from PenCom and PenOp.
The commission noted that the Committee’s
mandate was to develop a pragmatic and sustainable Implementation Plan to
drive the growth of the MPP.
The Commission also received the Executive Management of Independent
Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria on a courtesy visit.
The meeting
discussed the activities of the Association towards implementing the Micro
Pension Plan for its employees and members of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (Tanker Drivers).
