BY NKECHI NAECJE-ESEZOBOR—Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc has secured a major industry endorsement as two of its top executives were honoured at the 2026 Nigerian Insurers Association Awards & Recognition Ceremony, highlighting the company’s sustained influence in Nigeria’s insurance sector.

The Managing Director, Olufemi Asenuga, was recognised for his contributions to the industry, particularly during his tenure as a member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Insurers Association between 2023 and 2024. The award reflects his role in advancing industry standards, promoting professionalism, and strengthening stakeholder confidence.

In a related development, the Group Chairman, Akin Ogunbiyi, also received recognition for his contributions during his time on the association’s Governing Council from 2014 to 2017. He was represented at the ceremony by Asenuga, who accepted the award on his behalf.

The dual recognition underscores continuity in leadership and reinforces Mutual Benefits’ longstanding engagement in shaping the insurance landscape.

Commenting on the awards, Head of Corporate Communications, Gideon Ayogu, said the honours reflect the company’s commitment to industry development and operational excellence.

According to him, the recognition goes beyond individual achievements, pointing instead to a broader institutional focus on innovation, trust-building, and sustainable growth within the sector.

The annual NIA awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made notable contributions to the advancement of the insurance industry in Nigeria, with emphasis on leadership, service, and impact.

For Mutual Benefits Assurance, the recognition reinforces its strategic focus on governance, stakeholder value creation, and its role in driving the future direction of Nigeria’s insurance market.
