Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has launched an investigation into the recent encounter between Comfort Emanson, a passenger, and members of the Ibom Air crew.
According to the Authority, as part of the probe, its officials held a meeting Abuja yesterday with Julie Edwards, a crew member accused of being the arrowhead of the passengers’ ordeal and other crew members who were directly involved in the incident.
The NCAA, image –maker, Michael Achimugu, who made this disclosure through a post on his X account on Thursday, disclosed that probe panel members included representatives from key directorates, such as Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing, Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection, which were said to be working to ensure a thorough and impartial review of the incident.
“Yesterday in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other members of the crew involved in the Comfort Emanson incident as part of investigations into that event.
“The NCAA’s directorates of Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing, and Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection are collaborating to ensure a proper conclusion to this investigation.” Achimugu’s post reads,
Achimogu also disclosed in the post that the passenger in question had also been scheduled to meet with the Authority later today (Thursday) and that she will accompanied by her legal counsel during the session.
Recall that the embattled passenger and the Ibom Air recently was at the centre of a disturbing video which was well circulated on the social media.
In the video, the airline officials were seen manhandling her after she boarde the airline’s flight from Uyo to Lagos, where she allegedly attacked a flight attendant and clashed with airport officials.
The development led to the passenger arraignment before an the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on criminal charges and subsequent remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State.
