TOLU AKINWALE—The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has strengthened its engagement with key stakeholders in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry through courtesy and familiarisation visits to Airtel Nigeria and IHS Towers in Lagos State.

The visits, which took place on October 21, 2026, were led by the NCC’s Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Ms. Rimini Makama, alongside representatives of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON).

At the headquarters of Airtel Nigeria, Makama and ALTON President, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, were received by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dinesh Balsingh.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the commission, the industry association and the telecommunications operator to interact as part of ongoing efforts to maintain stakeholder relations within the sector.

The NCC delegation also visited the headquarters of IHS Towers, where Makama and Adebayo met with the company’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kazeem Oladepo.

The engagements brought the commission into contact with key players in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry, including a major service provider and an infrastructure company whose operations contribute to the country’s communications ecosystem.

ALTON represents licensed telecommunications operators in Nigeria, while Airtel Nigeria provides telecommunications services and IHS Towers operates telecommunications infrastructure.

As the regulator of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry, the NCC oversees operators and supports the development of the sector. Its engagement with industry stakeholders forms part of the broader interaction between the regulator, telecommunications operators and infrastructure providers.

However, the commission’s photo announcement did not disclose details of specific resolutions, policy commitments or agreements arising from the visits.

The engagements underscore the importance of continued interaction among the regulator, service providers and infrastructure companies in supporting an efficient and reliable telecommunications sector in Nigeria.
