NIA Unveils ‘Wetin You Carry’ Campaign To Create Awareness On Genuine Motor Insurance

BY NKECHI NAECHE ESEZOBOR——Poised to increase awareness on genuine motor insurance in the country, the Umbrella body of insurance operators in country, the Nigerian Insurers Association ( NIA) on Wednesday launched a campaign tagged, Wetin You Carry?.
The Director-General of the NIA, Mrs. Yetunde Ilori disclosed this at a media launch of the campaign in Lagos, said the association would from October 2, 2019, deployed 33 Insurance Squad, who will be in all parts of Lagos State to educate the motorists on the benefits of genuine motor policies.

She explained that the slogan “Wetin you carry?” is meant to  to let people understand that they can have genuine policies that could give them rest of mind in times of incidence.
The pilot scheme of the campaign according to her would be would commence from Lagos and later extended to other states.
Her words: “We are going to be seen on the road from October 2, and we are deploying personnel we call Insurance Squad. We have engaged 33 people for this. The plan is to cover the entire Lagos State, over a period of one month. They would be kitted and interact on a friendly manner with motorists, telling tell the nature of their insurance whether it is genuine or about to expire. Details of the policies would be derived from the USSD code.”
According to her, whilst the campaign runs, the association would also launch a unified platform that would enable people buy insurance with ease. “The platform would have an application that would showcase all the insurance companies and this would enable people buy insurance with ease and help weed out fake. The platform would also provide opportunities for people to lodge their complaints,” she said.
