The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has strongly condemned the killing of 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlet, in Pretoria, South Africa, calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of all those involved.

In a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols at NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa described the recurring attacks and killings of Nigerians in South Africa as deeply troubling and a matter of serious concern. She noted that Nigeria and South Africa share longstanding diplomatic and historical ties, expressing dismay that criminal elements continue to target fellow Africans.

She urged South African authorities to ensure that justice is served promptly and to strengthen measures that guarantee the safety and protection of Nigerians and other foreign nationals residing in the country.

Meanwhile, a female suspect has reportedly been arrested in connection with the murder, which occurred on February 11, 2026, in Pretoria West after Satlet picked up passengers through an e-hailing platform. She is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on February 16, 2026, on charges of car hijacking and murder.

Police reports indicate that Satlet was attacked by a male and female pair who allegedly hijacked his vehicle. His body and the stolen car were later discovered in Atteridgeville. Authorities look disclosed that dashcam footage from the vehicle helped investigators make a swift arrest, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the male suspect.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for enhanced security measures to protect e-hailing drivers. Friends and associates described Satlet, who was due to graduate next month, as hardworking and ambitious, with aspirations to further his education in Canada.
