BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR—The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reacted to an online publication alleging serious misconduct by one of its personnel, including claims of unlawful detention and sexual assault involving a Nigerian woman.
In a statement posted via its official X account, the Service described the allegations as grave and stressed that any form of misconduct by its officers is unacceptable, noting that such actions run contrary to its core values, ethics, and professional standards.
The NIS disclosed that it has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations, assuring the public that any personnel found culpable will be held fully accountable, with appropriate disciplinary and legal actions taken in line with existing regulations.
The Service further emphasized that it will neither shield nor condone any conduct that undermines public trust or violates the rights and dignity of individuals, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and accountability.
