Following the collapse of the national grid which led to a nationwide power outage, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced that system restoration has commenced.

In a statement, NISO disclosed that electricity supply has already been restored to Abuja, Osogbo, Benin, Onitsha, and parts of Lagos and Niger states, while restoration efforts are progressing steadily across other parts of the country.

Preliminary reports by NISO attributed the system collapse to the simultaneous tripping of multiple 330kV transmission lines, coupled with the disconnection of some grid-connected generating units.
