BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR—The Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, has responded to allegations of professional misconduct raised in a petition titled “Urgent Petition to All Well-Meaning Nigerians” submitted by the Safer Society for Children (SSC) Foundation and the Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF).

According to statement released by DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State, via the Force official X account, the  Command assures the public that the investigation of the alleged rape incident in Ijebu-Ode was conducted with the highest level of professionalism at every stage.

The statement  added that “the suspects, Kalu Prosper, Oche Destiny, Adamu Paul, and Adewusi Qudus, have been formally charged to court, and the judiciary is actively handling the case to ensure justice is served.

“At no point was the victim compromised. The Command ensured that all necessary requirements for a thorough investigation, including medical examinations, evidence collection, and proper documentation, were strictly adhered to. While the petitioners described the situation as the police having “failed to protect the victim, instead exposing her to further harm and humiliation,” the Command maintains that officers acted professionally, prioritizing the victim’s safety, dignity, and rights throughout the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, has instituted an investigation into the claims raised in the petition. The Command remains open to verifiable facts and will act decisively if any breach of duty is established, reinforcing transparency and accountability.

The statement urged the public  to come forward with credible information to assist the investigation. Updates on the case will be made available as it progresses, highlighting the Command’s unwavering commitment to justice, victim protection, and maintaining public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
