The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a stolen white Hyundai Sonata saloon car, registration number ABC 882 GK, and arrested three suspects in connection with the theft.
The vehicle was stolen from where it was parked on 13 September 2026 at about 0730hrs from Shangisha, Magodo, Lagos. After it was sighted around the Ojoo Area of Ibadan, the incident was reported to the Oyo State Police Command on 16 September 2026 at about 1600hrs by Tayo Ogunubi, of Challenge Area, Ibadan.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, psc, mnips, directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to trace and recover the vehicle. Using technology, intelligence-driven policing and coordinated operational efforts, the squad traced the vehicle to the Akinyele Area of Ibadan, where it was recovered.
The operation led to the arrest of three suspects: Abdulramon Hassan ‘M’ 49 ; Abdullahi Sani ‘M’, 43, and Sulaimon Adamu ‘M’, 53 yrs.
During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to involvement in the crime and are cooperating with investigators to uncover the activities of the syndicate and identify others connected with the theft. The recovered vehicle has been secured at the Command’s facility, while the suspects remain in custody.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate. The Commissioner of Police has directed that the investigation be intensified and concluded expeditiously, after which the suspects and any other persons found culpable will be charged to court in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner commended the officers involved and urged members of the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly and provide credible information to the police. He reassured residents of Oyo State that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, disrupting criminal networks and bringing perpetrators to justice.
