Hundreds of protesters under the hashtag #OccupyNASS on Monday converged at the main entrance of the National Assembly, expressing displeasure over alleged alterations to provisions of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill and the implementation of the new tax law.

Chanting solidarity songs, the protesters accused lawmakers of tinkering with key electoral reforms and policies they described as inimical to the interests of Nigerians.

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, was among the demonstrators, lending his support to the protest.

However, protesters were prevented from gaining access to the National Assembly complex by security operatives t, restricting them to the entrance area.
