The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday dismissed a viral “wanted” poster of popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, describing it as fake news alert..
The police denials surfaced after a poster, which was well circulated on social media, claimed that the famous actress was declared wanted and that a reward had been offered for information leading to her arrest.
But police in a statement issued on its verified Facebook page on Thursday, denied that the poster did not originated from them
“Fake news alert! This ‘wanted’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force.
“It is false, misleading and was never posted on any official NPF platform.
“Disregard and stop spreading fake news. Verify only from official NPF channels.”
The Force in the statement also appealed to “Nigerians to ignore the poster and desist from sharing such false content.”
