RAN New Leadership Eyes Major Industry Reforms

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR-The Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN) has officially inaugurated its newly elected Board of Trustees (BOT), signaling a renewed commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s recycling ecosystem and advancing major industry reforms.

The new BOT is led by Mr. Habib Ahmed as Chair and Mrs. Rita Idehai as Vice Chair. Other members include Mr. Allison Ukonu, Ms. Olufunto Boroffice, Mr. Bankole Oloruntoba, Mr. Mohammed Nazeeph Magaji, and Professor Innocent Nnorom—each bringing extensive experience in sustainability, circular economy development, and environmental advocacy.

RAN expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Board for their impactful service. The former trustees—Mrs. Priscilla Achakpa, Mrs. Kofoworola Adeleke, Ms. Doyinsola Ogunye, Mr. Lotanna Gerald Okoye, Mr. Wale Adebiyi, and Mr. Ola Oresanya—were recognized for strengthening the association and championing advancements in Nigeria’s recycling sector.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Ahmed emphasized unity and shared responsibility, stating:

“It truly takes a village to raise a child… we will all collectively continue to raise our child, the Recyclers Association of Nigeria.”

The newly inaugurated trustees affirmed their commitment to supporting RAN’s mission, prioritizing financial sustainability, strong governance structures, enhanced stakeholder engagement, and a five-year strategic vision to guide the organization’s future.

Looking ahead, RAN expressed optimism for deeper collaboration, increased innovation, and the continued growth of a robust, sustainable recycling ecosystem in Nigeria.
