BY OBINNA IBEH —-The Senate on Thursday approved Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after he underwent screening by legislators.
His confirmation followed a question-and-answer session during plenary, where senators evaluated him in line with constitutional requirements.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier sent a letter to the Senate requesting that Darma be screened and confirmed for a ministerial role.
The request was presented on the Senate floor by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who then referred it to the Committee of the Whole for review, instructing the panel to report back as quickly as possible.
Lawmakers subsequently accepted the committee’s recommendation, clearing the path for Darma’s confirmation.
Darma previously served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
