Seplat Energy Plc, a leading independent Nigerian energy company has shed more light on the recent acquisition of 20.07% by Heirs Energies Limited and Heirs Holdings Limited owned by billionaire Tony Elumelu, saying it came from sale of 120,400,000 ordinary shares by its major shareholder – Etablissements Maurel & Prom S.A. (M&P).
Seplat in a notice at the Nigerian Exchange said the shares were acquired as 86,639,377 ordinary shares by Heirs Energies Limited and 33,760,623 ordinary shares by Heirs Holdings Limited.
“Following this transaction, M&P no longer holds any shares in the Company while Heirs Energies Limited and Heirs Holdings Limited now jointly hold 120,400,000 ordinary shares, representing 20.07% of the Company’s issued share capital,” the notice said.
“M&P was a founding investor in Seplat Energy and remained one of the Company’s largest shareholders until now.
