Soludo Fires 8 Vigilantes, Orders Prosecution For Assault Female Corps Member

Following  the assault and public stripping of a female corps member named Jennifer Elobor by the operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit in in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Governor Chukwumma Soludo, has dismissed eight members of the Security outfit.

The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, disclosed this at the agency’s headquarters in Awka on Wednesday.

Emeakayi,  who said the operatives would be handed over to the police for prosecution,  added that the dismissed officers were in pursuit of suspected cultists, when they attacked the corps member, an action he described as “totally outside the mandate of the agency and utterly condemnable.”

He also disclosed that the state government  has settled the victim’s medical bills, replaced her damaged valuables, including a laptop and phone, and tendered a public apology to her family, NYSC and the general

Emeakayi highlighted that the incident would serve as a turning point to reform the state security outfit and restoring public confidence in community security operations.

Meanwhile , the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), earlier today condemned  the assual on assault Elobor, describing the action unacceptable and dehumanising,”

The  Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, who stated this in the statement issued on Wednesday, 20 August, 2025 , said that no justification could warrant such treatment of a Corps Member.

“Management wishes to assure the general public that it believes in, and supports the ongoing investigation by the Nigeria Police Force towards unravelling what transpired. This we trust will help get justice for the Corps Member in question and any other aggrieved party.”
