The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against politicising Oluremi Tinubu’s philanthropic gestures.

The Lagos State APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, who stated this through a press statement issued on Monday, added that public institutions across the world benefit from private donations and endowments, which complement government’s role in nation-building.
While noting that such contributions should be encouraged, as they demonstrate shared responsibility in strengthening public institutions, Oladejo urged Nigerians to regard the First Lady’s donation as a positive step towards supporting education and national development, rather than through a political lens.
He added that the focus should be on reinforcing national institutions and promoting a culture of public-private partnership for the greater good.
BusinessToday NG recalled that Obi had pointed out that Nigeria does not need to wait for birthday gifts before completing its National Library.
