Nigeria Police Force, Ogun Command Arrests Two Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Recovers Stolen Cow, Knife and Operational Vehicle

Operatives of the SWAT unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, have arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered a stolen cow valued at ₦1,700,000, a knife, and an operational vehicle used in the commission of the crime.

The suspects, identified as Muhammed Monsur ‘M’ and Olaseinde Olatunji ‘M’, were arrested following a swift response to a distress call from a farmer in the Ifo/Ibogun axis of Ogun State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 30, 2026, at about 2:30 a.m., when suspected rustlers invaded a dairy farm at Omitoro Village via Coker, Ifo/Ibogun, and carted away a cow.

Acting on the distress call, SWAT operatives promptly mobilised to the scene. The suspects, who attempted to escape in a mini bus popularly known as “Korope,” were intercepted after raising suspicion in the area.

The quick intervention led to the arrest of two suspects, while exhibits recovered include one stolen cow, one knife, and the operational mini bus used in the operation.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were part of a four-man gang, with two other accomplices escaping into a nearby bush.

The recovered vehicle has been secured at the Ibogun SWAT office, while the stolen cow was returned to its owner after being documented as evidence.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang. The case will be transferred to the appropriate investigative unit for further discreet investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their swift response and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.

Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines: Gateway Shield (0800 000 9111) and other emergency contacts provided.
