]]> English premier League (EPL) Liverpool on Thursday, 3 July, 2025 announced that the number 20 shirt will be immortalised as a sign of respect to their late forward Diogo Jota, reportsBusiness TodayNG.

Business TodayNG reported on Thursday, 3 July, 2025 that Portugal forward passed away at the age of 28 following a car crash in Spain that also claimed the life of his brother, Andre Silva.

Liverpool, which disclosed this in a post via their website on Thursday,3 July, 2025, said the No.20 jersey will be rightly immortalised for Jota’s contributions to Liverpool winning the 2024–2025 Premier League title.

BusinessToday NG recalls that the Reds won their 20th English top-flight league title last season under the guidance of coach Arne Slot, and interestingly, Jota’s trademark shimmy strike sealed victory in April’s Merseyside derby—a poignant last goal of his life.

Jota left behind his wife, Rute, and their three children.
