Stanbic IBTC, a leading financial services provider in Nigeria, successfully hosted the 2026 edition of the Nigeria Business Summit from Wednesday, 01 April to Thursday, 02 April 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The two-day summit brought together industry leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and stakeholders across multiple sectors to explore sustainable business practices, foster economic growth and unlock global trade opportunities.

With the theme, ‘Nigeria Means Business: Powering Sectors, Growing Sustainable SMEs & Unlocking Global Trade’, the summit addressed critical issues across key sectors, including agribusiness, renewable energy, trade and Africa–China banking, as well as ICT and telecommunications. Additional sessions covered areas such as family business sustainability, artificial intelligence, employee value banking, insurance, pension and wealth management.

The event featured a keynote address by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, who emphasisedthe urgent need for Nigeria to reposition itself as a leading export-driven economy to achieve sustained growth.

“Our true potential lies in becoming a leading export economy,” Edun stated. “Increased participation in regional and global trade will be critical to diversifying foreign exchange earnings and driving inclusive growth.”

He noted that while Nigeria’s GDP growth has improved to approximately 4 per cent, it remains below the level required to significantly reduce poverty. According to him, the country’s economic strategy is now shifting from stabilisation to growth acceleration, with trade expansion playing a central role.

Edun highlighted ongoing reforms, including improved foreign reserves, rising non-oil revenues and renewed investor confidence, as indicators of a more resilient economy. However, he stressed that enhancing trade competitiveness would require continued investment in infrastructure, logistics and policy coordination. He also highlighted the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which account for over 90 per cent of businesses, noting that inclusive growth will depend on stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Participants engaged in a rich line-up of activities, including expert presentations, panel discussions and high-level networking opportunities. Highlights of the summit included the Africa Trade Barometer presentation, client testimonial showcases and insightful discussions on the state of the African economy and intra-African trade opportunities.

Breakout sessions on agribusiness, ICT and healthcare, Africa-China banking and Trade as well as renewable energy provided attendees with deeper, practical insights into some of the most critical sectors driving Nigeria’s economic future.

Speaking at the event, Chuma Nwokocha, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, represented by the organisation’s Chief Finance and Value Management Officer, Kunle Adedeji, emphasised the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving sustainable growth.

“This summit has reinforced the importance of creating platforms where ideas can flourish and businesses can grow sustainably. By working together, we can unlock new opportunities and drive economic advancement across Nigeria and the African continent,” he said.

The summit also spotlighted practical strategies for integrating sustainability into business operations, encouraging organisations to adopt environmentally conscious practices while maintaining profitability and competitiveness.

Remy Osuagwu, Executive Director, Business & Commercial Banking, expressed satisfaction at the level of interest from participants, a critical element for a successful summit.

“From our conversations on energy and healthcare to the deep dives into trade, Africa-China relations, and agribusiness, Day 1 has offered perspectives that were both insightful and practical. I believe we’re all leaving with a stronger understanding of the opportunities emerging across our industries” Remy said.

He acknowledged the level of engagement, questions, contributions and willingness of participants to share experiences; describing this as the real power of the Nigeria Business Summit, and a solid foundation for tomorrow.

The Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, Wole Adeniyi, who was represented by Bunmi Dayo-Olagunju, Deputy Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, opened Day Two of the Nigeria Business Summit by highlighting the focus of the summit’s SME Day.

Bunmi said, “Today, we build on Day One’s momentum with conversations that are equally critical for the future – from the dynamics of family businesses to the growing influence of artificial intelligence; the evolution of insurance, and the emerging space of electric vehicle banking.”

She further added, “Our goal on Day Two is simple: to explore what’s next. To understand how these developments will shape our businesses and how we can position ourselves ahead of the curve.”

The launch event at Stanbic IBTC Towers in Victoria Island, Lagos, set the stage for what promises to be the most exciting edition yet of the youth-centric talent discovery platform.

In his address, Olumide Oyetan, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, revealed this year’s theme: Light it up. The theme encapsulates the show’s mission to illuminate and celebrate Nigerian youths’ boundless creativity and talents.

Oyetan emphasized the transformative power of the FUZE Talent Show, stating, “Each season, we’ve witnessed this platform’s ability to uncover, foster, and propel young talents into the spotlight; giving rise to new stars who now shine across the realms of music, dance, fashion, and technology- both in Nigeria and globally”.

He further elaborated that the initiative was birthed to address the gap created by young people not being captured within the pension scheme.

The PFA’s through their extensive work in the space, have realized that young people seldom adopt pension savings early; and when they do, it is too late for them to save enough for the future. Hence, there is a need to attract them through their interests.

“We aim to make Nigerian youths the best version of themselves. That is why we do this and are committed to it. To ensure equal opportunity for everyone, every aspect of the competition must go through a transparent process. This has been consistent every year, and it keeps improving”.

A significant highlight of the event was the announcement of the new grand prize of ₦50 million, which set a new benchmark for talent competitions across Nigeria.

Kenneth Omeogu, Head of Business Development,  while making this announcement and other upgrades for the FUZE Talent Show 3.0, explained that this substantial prize signifies a new era in the stakes of talent competitions, demonstrating its commitment to recognizing, rewarding and developing exceptional talent.

Kenneth listed the notable improvements on the third edition of the show tagged FUZE 3.0.

He explained that the improvements are aimed at enhancing participants’ experiences and operational efficiency. One of the improvements was the registration platform, which was significantly improved to make the registration process more user-friendly and accessible, encouraging more registrations.

He noted a remarkable increase in participants from locations outside Lagos, indicating growing interest and broader reach of the competition across the country.

Another critical change is the relocation of the boot camp. This strategic move provides the contestants with a better environment to enhance their creative process and overall experience during the competition, such as mentorship, networking, bonding, collaboration, and so on.

Overall, these upgrades indicate a deliberate effort to elevate the quality and impact of the initstive, making it a platform for showcasing talent and genuinely fostering and rewarding artistic excellence.

Nike Bajomo, the Executive Director of Business Development at Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, elaborated that talent discovery and support are strategic pillars of the business’s broader goals, underscoring their investment in the  Show.

Aligning with young people’s inclination to follow their passion, the manager has proactively identified, supported, and rewarded talented individuals across the select music, dance, fashion, and tech fields.

Nike further explained that nurturing talent will create a ripple effect to foster personal and professional growth, a vibrant community, and contribute to the nation’s economic development.

She emphasized that this initiative is a pioneering one within the financial institution industry, setting a new benchmark for corporations’ contribution to societal growth beyond traditional business models.

The lineup of judges includes prominent figures from various industries: Olufunke Adepoju, celebrated for her contributions to fashion; Akinwande Akinsulire, a renowned name in the tech industry; Akorede Bello, a respected authority in the music industry; and Nonso Asobe, also known as DonFlexx – a distinguished figure in the dance community.

This diverse and expertly curated panel demonstrates the competition’s commitment to excellence across various creative disciplines, promising an enriching experience for all involved. The judges will also provide insightful feedback and valuable guidance while evaluating the participants, enhancing their journey through FUZE 3.0.

The winners of Fuze Talent Show 2.0 were not left out either. Chioma Ukpabi, a FUZE Talent Show 2.0 winner, a social tech entrepreneur, and Executive Director of Skill Up with Kahdsole (SUWK), highlighted her goal of using technology to make education accessible for all. The show provided SUWK with a platform to showcase their work in the EdTech sector, leading to a significant increase from 800 to 2800 learners engaged in vocational studies. The victory boosted SUWK’s visibility, credibility, and growth, attracting new partnerships and funding opportunities.

The prize money allowed SUWK to obtain accreditation and expand its course offerings from four to eleven with a standardized curriculum. This success attracted investors and public attention, leading to over $100,000 in financing. The show inspired SUWK to continuously innovate, introduce new courses, enhance platforms, and develop an AI-powered career guidance tool.

Also, Atonopriya Cotterell, an afro pop-soul artist from Rivers State who won the music category, said, “Winning the FUZE Talent Show last year has significantly boosted my career. Unlike before FUZE, I have been actively earning from my music, expanded my social media following to over 100,000, and garnered millions of streams. Additionally, I’ve had the incredible chance to work alongside renowned artists and producers, greatly enriching my experience. This has provided me with a platform to reach a broader audience, enabling my music to connect with people worldwide. The FUZE Talent Show will always hold a special place in my story.” Cotterell stated.

As anticipation builds for FUZE 3.0 the company reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent and contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s creative industries. Building on the success of previous seasons, which had over 10,000 participants and captured millions of viewers worldwide, the company invites the media and the public to participate and support the FUZE Talent Show 3.0, poised to reach new heights in participation and global attention.

To increase access to sustainable finance in Nigeria, Canada’s Development Finance Institution, FinDev Canada, provides a loan of up to US$ 40 million to Stanbic IBTC. This loan to Stanbic IBTC, a member of Standard Bank Group, Africa’s largest bank by assets, paves the way to a long-term partnership in the Sub-Saharan African region.

FinDev Canada’s loan will support Stanbic IBTC Bank’s sustainability-related activities in Nigeria and support the development of productive sectors of the economy, including agribusiness, health, education, affordable housing, and sustainable infrastructure. It will also increase access to finance for micro, small and medium-size enterprises, and financing for climate change mitigation and adaptation. At least 30% of the loan amount is dedicated to women-owned or led enterprises.

Nigeria’s economy heavily relies on micro, small and medium enterprises, which generate an estimated 84% of employment and account for 96% of businesses. While women own 41% of the micro-enterprises segment, many remain unbanked due to a persistent gender financing gap.

Through our partnership with Stanbic IBTC Bank, the seventh largest bank in Nigeria by assets, serving over 3 million clients through a network of 130 branches, FinDev Canada can expand its reach to these crucial but often underserved segments of the Nigerian economy.

“We are proud to support development and economic growth through the private sector” declared Lori Kerr, Chief Executive Officer at FinDev Canada. “Market development is a key priority for FinDev Canada and the partnership with Stanbic IBTC Bank offers a tremendous opportunity to enhance access to capital for important sectors of Nigeria’s economy, contributing to stronger markets and improving the livelihoods of women and men. Our partnership with Stanbic IBTC Bank is also an opportunity to continue to expand our impact in Sub-Saharan Africa in the years to come.”

“As we embark on this transformative journey, I am honored to acknowledge the strategic importance of the financing we have secured to champion sustainable and gender-inclusive financing,” said Wole Adeniyi, Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC Bank. “This financial commitment not only fuels our vision for a more sustainable future but also underscores our unwavering dedication to fostering equal opportunities. Empowering women and advancing sustainable initiatives is not just a financial decision, it is a commitment to building a world where prosperity knows no gender, and where every investment is a step towards a brighter, more sustainable future. Together, with this significant partnership with FinDev Canada, we pave the way for a future where financial strength and social impact walk hand-in-hand,” Wole added.

This transaction will contribute to FinDev Canada’s long-term development impact goals and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 5, Gender Equality, and SDG 13, Climate Action.

This transaction qualifies for the 2X Challenge, which seeks to shift more capital towards investments that empower women in developing countries, to access entrepreneurship and leadership opportunities, quality jobs, and products and services that enhance their economic participation.

To this day, the initiative proudly boasts of assisting 136 beneficiaries nationwide, ensuring each child receives an annual prosthetic limb replacement until age 18. This year’s event further solidified Stanbic IBTC’s commitment by welcoming 36 children into the programme, thereby cementing Stanbic IBTC’s role in creating brighter futures for children experiencing limb loss.

During the event, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady of Lagos State, highlighted the remarkable impact of the initiative noting with admiration that 136 children have benefited from the organisation’s esteemed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

She said, “I want to sincerely appreciate Stanbic IBTC’s commitment and consistency over the years through this laudable initiative. It is imperative to note that supporting special children who have experienced limb loss either through accidents, mismanaged injuries, or congenital issues/birth defects and providing prosthetic limbs and educational trust funds for them will further assist them in realising their full potential and give them a sense of love, care, and support from society.”

“Over the years, issues around welfare and rights of persons with disabilities have become a recurring decimal in national discourse with successive administrations coming up with various initiatives to end discrimination and generally promote the principle of social inclusion.  In today’s world, our society has realised that physical disability is not inability and therefore should not, in any way, hinder anyone from achieving something positive in life,” she stated.

Ejike Anih, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IfeanHealth Orthopaedics, stated that Stanbic IBTC has accomplished milestones through the Together4Limb initiative.

“This initiative explicitly targets the upliftment of underprivileged children, a segment of society often overlooked yet deeply impacted by systemic inequalities. By focusing on this group, the organisation sheds light on these children’s pressing issues and actively works to create tangible positive changes in their lives.”

“Such initiatives are paramount today, as they embody the essence of corporate responsibility—recognising the roles of businesses in the economy and as pillars of society with the power and resources to enact real change. By dedicating a portion of its resources to the welfare of underprivileged children, the organisation sets a laudable example for others to follow, demonstrating how corporations can make a significant difference in the world, one child at a time,” Ejike said.

Speaking at the event, Brigadier General Samson Okoigi, Corps Commander—Medical, Nigerian Army, commended the Together4ALimb initiative for its significant contribution, providing much-needed hope and support to those affected. This initiative is crucial in helping recipients tap into their inherent potential and navigate life more confidently despite their physical challenges.

He stressed, “We understand firsthand the impact of losing a limb, not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically. I stand here today with pride, recognising the vital work that Stanbic IBTC has been doing through this remarkable initiative. Your dedication to restoring mobility to individuals with limb loss across Nigeria aligns with our mission in the Nigerian Army to rehabilitate and support the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation. We know that the journey to recovery is not just about restoring what was lost but empowering individuals to regain their independence, confidence and sense of purpose.”

The 10th Together4ALimb Walk commenced at the Stanbic IBTC Head Office on Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos, and concluded at the Law School Bus Stop on Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue.

This year’s event marked a significant milestone by expanding its reach beyond Lagos, bringing the Together4ALimb Walk to several cities across Nigeria with staff and partners joining the walk with the aid of Steps by Stanbic IBTC. This expansion underscores Stanbic IBTC’s commitment to fostering the nation’s social, economic, and environmental welfare.
