BY SUNDAY SAMUEL—Troops of Sector 2 under the Operation FANSAN YAMMA have conducted coordinated clearance operations in parts of Zamfara State, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves and restore security across affected communities.

The operations, carried out in the early hours of 4 May 2026, targeted several locations including Maikwanuga in Talata Mafara LGA and Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi, and Tungar Magaji in Maradun LGA.

During the advance, troops engaged terrorists in Tungar Magaji and overpowered them with superior firepower, neutralising two suspected terrorists while others reportedly fled the scene.

Following the encounter, the troops conducted a follow-up sweep of the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle with a loaded 30-round magazine, as well as a motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects.

The military said the operation forms part of sustained clearance efforts within the Bagega–Sunke forest axis aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and safe havens.

The Operation FANSAN YAMMA reiterated its commitment to ongoing offensive operations and urged residents to continue supporting security forces by providing timely and credible intelligence.
