BY NKECHI NAECHE ESEZOBOR—Unitrust Insurance Company Limited has reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of 2026, posting significant year-on-year growth in both premium income and claims settlement, a development that further strengthens its reputation as a dependable and customer-focused insurer.

The company recorded a Gross Written Premium (GWP) of ₦9.93 billion in Q1 2026, representing a 27.8 per cent increase from the ₦7.77 billion posted in the corresponding period of 2025.

The growth, according to the company, reflects the success of its strategic business initiatives, expanding market presence, and rising customer confidence in its insurance offerings.

In the same period, Unitrust Insurance also paid out ₦1.56 billion in claims, marking a substantial 77.3 per cent increase compared to the ₦879.35 million settled in Q1 2025.

The sharp rise in claims payout underscores the company’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations to policyholders promptly and efficiently.

Speaking on the performance, the Managing Director, Arowojolu Adedayo, said the results reaffirm the company’s commitment to trust and reliability.

“Insurance is ultimately about trust, and at Unitrust, we take that responsibility seriously. Our growth in premium reflects the confidence our customers have in us, while our increased claims payout demonstrates our unwavering commitment to being there when it matters most,” he said.

Industry analysts say the simultaneous growth in premium income and claims settlement reflects a balanced business strategy that combines expansion with strong customer service delivery.

At a time when trust, responsiveness, and speed of service remain key factors in the insurance industry, Unitrust continues to stand out through prompt claims settlement and innovative, customer-centric solutions.

The company said it remains focused on strengthening customer relationships, improving service delivery channels, and creating value beyond traditional insurance coverage as it builds on its strong start to the year.
