Parents of Nigerian students studying abroad on government scholarships on Monday blocked the entrance of the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja, protesting the non-payment of outstanding 16 months allowances owed to their children.

According to the protesters, their children, who are on various bilateral education agreements and other scholarship schemes, have not received their stipends for 16 months, while an additional eight-month shortfall remains unsettled.
