BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR—The United States on Monday  cautioned that when Nigerian visitors remain beyond the permitted duration of their visas, it could limit chances for other people from the country who wish to apply in the future.

In a notice shared on its official X account today,  the U.S. Mission in Nigeria emphasized that following visa rules carefully helps preserve travel opportunities for students, professionals, and families who comply with regulations.

“Reminder: When Nigerian visitors overstay their visas, it may reduce opportunities for other citizens. Adhering to visa conditions helps maintain access for students, business travelers, and families who follow the rules. If you have information about visa-related misconduct, kindly report it to AbujaFPU@state.gov or LagosFPU@state.gov.”
