48th AIO: Smart, Ojemudia, Omo, Omokhodion, Ilori, Others Named Among Top 50 PILA/AIO Women In Insurance

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–To mark it’s golden jubilee, the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) yesterday named Mrs. Tonia Smart, the wife of the President of the Organization; Joyce Ojemudia, MD/ CEO African Alliance Insurance PLC and Funmi Omo,  MD/ CEO Enterprise Life Insurance Company Limited among top 50 Professional Insurance Ladies in Africa.

Others are former regional director African Re, Mrs. Funmi Omokhodion, Director General Nigerian insurers Association, Mrs.Yetunde Ilori; President of Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA), MD/ CEO, IGI general insurance, Rachel Emenike.

Mrs Nkechi Margaret Moore; Chairman African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Committee, Mrs Ekeoma Esther Ezeibe and former commissioner for Insurance Ghana,  Lydia Lariba Bawa and other 41 ladies.

The celebration which was celebrated along side the 48th annual AIO Conference and Annual General Assembly ongoing in Nairobi, Kenya, featured over 2,000 delegates across Africa.

The golden jubilee was celebrated under the theme, “AIO at 50: A call for Africa Insurance Renaissance.”

The organization was created in 1972 and based in Cameroon, AIO is a non-governmental organization that aims to support the development of insurance markets in the continent. It has nearly 400 members from 48 African countries.
