The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has suspended all political office holders and appointees in Rivers State.
The affected officials include:
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
The Chief of Staff
All Honourable Commissioners.
Chairmen and members of boards, councils of agencies, commissions, institutions, and parastatals.
All Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants
The Chief of Staff to the Administrator of Rivers State released a statement on Wednesday, indicating that the suspension was enacted in accordance with the authority granted to the state’s Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, by President Bola Tinubu.
The statement also instructed the officials who were suspended to transfer their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries of their specific ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
In situations where a Permanent Secretary is not appointed, the highest-ranking Director or Head of Administration will assume the responsibilities. This order will be implemented starting Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
