Low turnout of eligible voters characterized the Lagos State council elections held across the state on Saturday, 12 July, 2025, reports Business Today NG.

Most streets are deserted across the state, few cars on the roads with residents preferring to stay indoors. In some streets, children were seen playing football,
In most streets in Alimosho Local Government and Mosan Okuola Local Council development Area, visited by Business Today NG some residents were sitting idle in front of their houses watching how things are playing out.
Business TodayNG check in Mosan Okuola reveals that election material did not arrive early in most of the LGA. At about 9 30 am, election officials and materials had not arrive in most wards .
In ward 005, polling 02 in Cacaten road round about, there was few people sitting waiting for electoral officials to arrive
Speaking to BusinessDay, the presiding officer, Segun Ola, said they arrived at the polling unit at 9am, noting that he expect the election to be peaceful.
At about 10-30am at the polling unit, few voters were seen on queue, they were allowed to vote immediately after accreditation.
An agent of the All Progresssives Congress (APC) who simply identified his name as Taofic said he hope the residents would come out and vote.
The agent said the election has been peaceful so far in the polling unit
“Though the election has yet to start, everything is peaceful as you can see it yourself, there is no problem here”, he said.
A Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) agent, Akeem Adebayo said the exercise did not start on time, but has been peaceful so far.
He appealed to residents of the state to come out and exercise their constitutional franchise.
In polling unit 010, in the same ward 005, only about 6 people had voted at about 10:30am.
The streets were deserted and residents who spoken to Business TodayNG said they are not interested in the exercise because of the economic hardship being currently experienced by Nigerians
A resident of Cacaten Road, Busayo Adetayo , said “we are not happy with what we are facing presently, food very expensive, cost of transports has gone up, our children cannot eat well, most us now eat one times in a day, Even, electricity bills we are being subjected to pay for are killing. So, what are we enjoying from government to encourage us to come out and vote. We can go out and vote because our stomach is empty.”
Meanwhile, in Church Street, another part of the council, there was no voting in most part of the council area.
There were many eligible voters in the polling units in the council waiting for the officials.
A resident, Abidemi Yusuf said many residents came out early hoping to vote are disappointed so far.
“You can see there is no one here, this is about 10 am, no officials insight, it is sad”, he said.
