The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, Bridget Asekhauno, on Monday disclosed at leasst 21 persons lost their lives while 144 were injured in road crashes that occurred across the state between January and October, 2025.
Asekhauno, who disclosed this on Monday during a press conference to flag off the 2025 “Ember months” public enlightenment campaign, themed, ‘Take responsibility for your safety: Stop distracted driving,’ said the number of casualties was recorded in 57 crashes, attributing most of them to overspeeding.
According to her, some of the activities lined up for the “ember months” campaign include a motorcade rally and a town hall meeting to sensitise road users and stakeholders on the need to take their safety more seriously.
“No fewer than 21 persons lost their lives while 144 were injured in road crashes that occurred across the state between January and October, 2025. The casualties resulted from about 57 crashes.
“We are commencing the 2025 ‘Ember months’ public enlightenment campaign, themed, ‘Take responsibility for your safety: Stop distracted driving’.
“We will be having a motorcade rally across the state, especially parks to sensitise road users, including drivers to ensure they take responsibility for their safety by avoiding distractive driving, Asekhauno said.
