PRESS RELEASE–-The Afreximbank Trade Finance Seminar and Workshop, organised annually by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, from 4 to 6 November 2019.

The 2019 Seminar and Workshop will be the 20th in the series which aims to equip African financial institutions, bankers and professionals from regulatory agencies, corporates and law firms with the skills necessary for dealing with the challenges of financing transactions in this era of heightened global economic uncertainty.

With the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, there will be a huge growth in demand for and supply of trade finance – the African Union is forecasting 52 per cent growth in the level of intra-African trade by 2022.

Prof. Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank, said that the event had become an important annual platform for African bankers and other trade finance practitioners to meet, network and make major contributions to boosting African trade.

This year’s speakers include high-profile experts from leading financial institutions and firms as well as key financial services regulators from Africa and beyond.

Expected participants will be senior executives from African banks and financial institutions, regulatory institutions, hedge funds, Africa country funds, venture capital institutions, corporate entities engaged in trade, manufacturing and privatised infrastructure projects, Afreximbank’s trade finance and project finance intermediaries, African law firms and insurance firms.

About 1,600 African trade finance professionals have taken part in the seminars and workshops since they were introduced in 1999. The 2018 seminar and workshop took place in Casablanca, Morocco.

Opportunities from the AfCFTA
Digital transformation and the Pan-African Payment System
